You could call it a coup of sorts, pulled off by none other than renowned realtor Lodha Luxury and Delhi Art Gallery. The exclusive event saw a rare pairing of artworks by two master artists – F.N Souza and Pablo Picasso. Souza’s “Man and Woman Laughing” (1968) was spotted side by side with Picasso’s masterpiece “La Plage - Juan les Pins” (1932) at The World Villas.
La Plage - Juan les Pins depicts the Mediterranean seascape. The blues, greens and mellow yellows evoke a calm, soothing feeling, reflecting the state of mind of the globally renowned artist when creating this artwork. Souza’s Man and Woman Laughing are a sarcastic comment on the society, aiming to uncover the hypocrisy that has become so synonymous with it.
Present at the event among other appreciators of art were Catherine Grenier, President of the Giacometti Institute and art historian from the Centre Pompidou, Paris; and Ashok Adiceam, Senior Vice President, DAG.
